Style with Blanaid Hennessy 29th Nov.

TEMPTED TO PARTY?
Party season is well and truly upon us, it’s time to dust off your style super powers and rock people’s aesthetic world. Like Juliette Harvey, the owner of Tempted boutique on John Street, I believe in quality, not quantity.
Don’t go to every single night out, but do make a huge impression when you do hit the pubs and clubs. Invest in a few key pieces that will carry you through the season, try out really funky hairstyles, stay away from the heavy hand with the straighteners, and experiment with your make up.
Make an impact, not an appearance.
Juliette understands her market perfectly, stocking a perfect range of casual and formal wear. All of the clothes featured in this shoot are from her store, and are just a sample of her more disco worthy range. She also carries the more subdued ranges for the formal do, and casual ranges for everyday impact. My favourite pieces from this shoot would have to be the trapeze style French velvet coat with the bow detail, the flapper style sequinned dress and the purple number with fabulous pockets. To be honest I just love everything in her store, that’s why we have featured her solely this week.
The shoes are from Graham’s shoes on High Street, check out their new Bronx range, I absolutely love it, as close to Top Shop shoes as you will get in Kilkenny.
The model is Shauna Murphy, another of our recent additions following the hugely successful Style Evening, and I’m sure you’ll agree, she is simply stunning.

Hennessy Media StyleFair 2007!!!!

Firstly, many thanks to all of you who attended our evening last Thursday, you wonderfully intelligent people. All of you impressed simply by turning up and having a go, if only all people were so gung ho with their careers.

Now to the main event, and you officially read it hear first... we are delighted to announce the launch of the very first Kilkenny StyleFair.

The Style Fair will take place in Spring 2007, with an exact date to be confirmed in March or April. It will be a ticketed event, held in the long bar, ballroom and conservatory of Langton's hotel on John St.

The long bar will become Wardrobe Wonderland, where boutiques and designers will flaunt and flog their celebrated wares from specially commissioned painted antique wardrobes. We will have clothes, jewellery, style books, shoes… whatever your stylish heart desires.

The beautiful ballroom will play hostess to our fashion shows, which are provisionally being booked for an hourly appearance. We hope to have alternating shows, casual and occasion wear, on the hour, which promise to be as dramatic and artistic as our budget and brains allow.

To the conservatory then, where hair stylists, make up artists and image consultants line up to help you with your chic conundrums. Pick up tips, sit for a restyle, or simply watch in amazement as these modern artists perform their magic on your fellow fashion fanatics.

We will also have the return of the Careers and Casting evening, where a handpicked team of experts will offer advice on working in the Style industry, how to get to the top and how to stay there when you do. We will be looking for models for the Kilkenny People, and also to feature in upcoming events.

Why are we doing this to ourselves.. I hear you ask. Why inundate our already busy little lives with more organisation and hardship? Well, we happen to like Kilkenny an awful lot, I have lived in Dublin and Glasgow, and feel Kilkenny has it’s own unique charm.
My brother Eoin, partner in our business Hennessy Media, has photographed beautiful and personal images of this city and it‘s people, and also loves the creative community spirit that exists.
We would like to bolster Kilkenny’s growing reputation of Style Capital, we want to snatch the crown from Dublin’s already overcrowded head. Kilkenny is a county full of hardworking, entrepreneurial and creative people. There must be an outlet for those who are more talented in the style areas of art, and honest open advice and information on how to succeed in this industry.
Style is no longer about who you know, it’s about what you know and how you apply it, so forget the fear, step up and own your career. Let us push this industry forward so you have a stage to step on to, now, and in the future.
That may sound like a big idea for a small city, but cities grow, as do opportunities, markets and workforces. All we have to do is make a start, which is what we did last Thursday night, now it’s on to bigger and better, for everyone.

So, does this event sound like your particular kettle of fish? Are you interested in booking a space to show your wares at the event? Are you in need of an injection of style advice, or do you want to ooh and aah at our display of fashion? Perhaps you want an excuse for dressing up real pretty and wandering amongst the other pretty folk and things of the county…no problem, everyone is welcome. Keep your eyes on the Style with Blanaid Hennessy page in the Kilkenny People for further information, check out the blog page on www.blanaid.com, or make use of the above contact details. Hope you all are looking forward to the event as much as we are!
